Private Classes

Private Childbirth & New Parent Classes

Personalized Education. In the Comfort of Your Own Home.

Sometimes you don’t need another general class.

You need someone who has time for your questions.

Prairie Path Birth Collective offers private, in-home childbirth and new parent education for families throughout Naperville, Warrenville, Wheaton, West Chicago, and Chicago’s western suburbs.

All classes are offered both in person and live virtually. Virtual classes aren’t pre-recorded courses—you’ll still learn alongside other expecting families, participate in discussion, and have opportunities to ask questions throughout class.

Instead of following a one-size-fits-all curriculum, we’ll tailor your class to your pregnancy, birth plans, previous experiences, questions, learning style, and the areas where you want more preparation.

You get evidence-informed education—with the freedom to stop, ask questions, practice, and spend more time on what actually matters to you.

Why Choose a Private Class?

Private education may be a great fit if you:

  • Prefer learning one-on-one rather than in a group
  • Want more time to ask personal questions
  • Have specific birth preferences or concerns
  • Are preparing for an induction, VBAC, epidural, or cesarean birth
  • Had a previous birth or feeding experience you’d like to approach differently
  • Want your partner or support person actively involved
  • Prefer learning in a familiar environment
  • Need more flexibility with scheduling
  • Want to combine topics from multiple classes

And sometimes?

You just don’t want to leave your house. We get it.

Choose Your Private Class

Prepare for labor and birth around your plans and questions.

We’ll explore how labor works, comfort measures, positioning and movement, pain-management options, inductions and common interventions, cesarean birth, informed decision-making, partner support, birth preferences, and what to expect during a hospital birth.

Rather than teaching you one “correct” way to give birth, we’ll help you understand your options and build tools for navigating whatever your birth brings.

Start learning about feeding before you’re holding a hungry newborn.

We’ll cover milk production, getting breastfeeding started, latch and positioning, newborn feeding cues, normal feeding behavior, building supply, pumping, bottles, paced feeding, supplementation, and common challenges.

Private education also gives you more time to talk about your individual feeding goals, previous experiences, and questions.

Practice the everyday skills of caring for a newborn without the pressure of a group environment.

We’ll talk about diapering, bathing, holding, soothing, feeding cues, safe sleep, normal newborn behavior, everyday safety, and what to expect during those first days and weeks at home.

Partners and support people are encouraged to participate so everyone can get some hands-on practice.

Birth is one day. Postpartum is a whole season.

We’ll help you prepare for physical recovery, newborn life, feeding, sleep expectations, household responsibilities, visitors and boundaries, relationships, emotional wellbeing, and building a realistic support system.

You’ll leave with the beginnings of a personalized postpartum plan for your family.

Have questions that don’t fit neatly into one category?

That’s one of the biggest advantages of private education.

Depending on your needs, we may be able to combine topics from childbirth, breastfeeding, newborn care, and postpartum preparation into a customized session.

Tell us what you’re hoping to learn, and we’ll help you decide what format makes the most sense.

Your Partner Isn’t Just Invited—They’re Part of the Plan

Private classes give partners and support people space to ask the questions they may not feel comfortable asking in a larger group.

We’ll help them understand what to expect, how to provide meaningful support, how to communicate with you when things feel overwhelming, and where they fit into birth, feeding, newborn care, and postpartum recovery.

The goal isn’t for your partner to become an expert.

It’s for both of you to leave feeling more like a team.

Birth and parenting decisions are personal.

Our job isn’t to tell you which choices make you a “good” parent. It’s to help you understand the evidence, consider your options, ask informed questions, and decide what works for your family.

Whether you’re planning an epidural or hoping to avoid one, breastfeeding or considering combination feeding, feeling excited about birth or completely overwhelmed by it—you are welcome here.

Prefer Learning With Other Parents?

If you’d like the opportunity to learn alongside other expecting families, explore our upcoming childbirth and new parent group classes.

You don’t need to squeeze your questions into someone else’s curriculum.

Tell us what you’re preparing for, what you already know, and what you’re still wondering about. We’ll help you create an educational experience that leaves you feeling more prepared—not more overwhelmed.
