Learn From a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator
Classes are taught by Miranda Yde, a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator and experienced birth doula with additional training in lactation, perinatal mental health, bereavement support and newborn safety.
That means our conversations aren’t limited to what happens during contractions. We can look at birth as part of the larger transition into parenthood.
Childbirth Education FAQ
Generally during the second or early third trimester, leaving enough time to practice and prepare before birth.
Yes. A significant part of class is helping support people understand what labor may look like and how they can help.
Absolutely. Childbirth education is about much more than pain management.
Hospital childbirth classes can be a great resource, especially for learning about your specific hospital’s policies, procedures, facilities, and what to expect when you arrive.
Independent childbirth education offers something a little different. Our classes focus on helping you understand how birth works, what options you may encounter, and how to make informed decisions throughout labor and birth—not just what typically happens at a particular hospital.
We also have more flexibility to explore topics like comfort measures, partner support, birth preferences, inductions, epidurals, common interventions, cesarean birth, and how to ask questions and advocate for your preferences if plans change.
You don’t necessarily have to choose one or the other. A hospital class can help you learn where you’re giving birth, while independent childbirth education can help you prepare for how you want to navigate the experience.
